Blog: Laricina receives ERCB approval for its Saleski carbonate pilot solvent amendment
April 30, 2010Laricina is pleased to announce it has received Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) approval for its Saleski carbonate pilot solvent amendment. The original steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) pilot was approved by the ERCB and Alberta Environment in July 2009. The enhanced recovery amendment, filed on September 25, 2009, proposed to utilize solvents in addition to steam in a cyclic staged manner in the SAGD process. The process is called Solvent Cyclic SAGD (SC-SAGD). Based on extensive simulation, lab testing and field work, Laricina believes that the SC-SAGD process will reduce the steam requirements and improve bitumen recovery, resulting improved economics and lower emissions per barrel produced.
